Hi all. Does anyone have the pop3 servers for gmail? I'm using outlook express. Thanks.
Troy
I believe there's a program called gmail config or something similar that'll setup gmail with outlook express, if you can't find it online, lemme know and I'll send it to you via e-mail, hth
you just need to have all the server details for pop3 for gmail, and you can use you for outlook express yes. pm me if you need the server's details.
pop is pop.gmail.com, and out going smpt.gmail.comthere is however port settings you need to beaware of.
Here is for a specific application config. .
pop.gmail.com & outgoing is smtp.google.com make sure to also check the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' under 'Outgoing Mail (SMTP).'
Enter '465' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP):' field.
Check the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' under 'Incoming mail (POP3).' The port will change to 995.
*The order of 'Outgoing' and 'Incoming' mail server fields varies by version. Make sure you enter the correct information in each field.
i did this, but am still being ask for my password. entering it time and time again, doesn't get me my mail. anyone having the same problem?
If you are going to try and get your gmail via outlook or any mail client, you should note that you have to inable pop acsess in your account, dunno where coz i've never needed to do it.
Smuj, this could be why it won't let you connect.
At my bording school we have software that blocks sights based on the content, couple've weekends ago, i couldn't acsess my gmail, coz someone had emailed me some spam with loto in it, which are school blocks.
BEN.
yes, this is done at the very start, of setting up. strangely google don't even no the answer, and have stop responding altogether.
You can use web2pop, from JMASoftware.
They have a 'support module' for gmail, and all you need do is specify localhost as the pop server in your mailer.
